Crespo believes that Leo is now halfway to becoming a top player. But he is still struggling with his development and is not yet fully mature.
“I see it from an outsider’s point of view because I am not at Milan. Although I know the club very well,” Crespo told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The first word that came to my mind was confusion. It seems Leo is confused. He has mental issues first, then technical issues.”
“It’s my opinion, he’s got talent, he’s got great potential, both technically and athletically. But he’s not matured enough to be a champion.”
“It’s like we’re halfway there. Knowing how to dribble is not enough to call yourself a champion.”
“Leao does wonderful things for two or three games, and then he disappears. A champion is a champion all the time, even when playing below their standard level. They are a reference point for the team; you know they are there and will always be there. With Leao, can we say before he steps on the field that he’s there and will always be?”
